Happy Fourth of July - Early...

Okay...

Here's the preview of the 'Pastor's Perspective' from the July bulletin.  Let me know what you think...

God's best to ya, today!

Pastors Perspective

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on
him,If ye continue in my word, then are ye my
disciples indeed;  and ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.  If the Son
therefore shall make you free,ye shall be free
indeed.                    John 8:31-32, 36

Free? Indeed!   On the 4th of July, we celebrate our country’s declaration of  independence from Great Britain in 1776.

But that freedom wasn’t free and not everyone in this new country knew freedom.

November 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln, in his address at Gettysburg stated: Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Freedom wasn’t clearly available to all.  Nor is it today. Look around you, you’ll see the evidence of slavery. Regardless of race, social standing, religious affiliation, you’ll see people who are enslaved.  Bound by addictions, burdens, desires, pasts, and in spite of multitudes of counselors, doctors, and helps, they start and end their days in slavery.

Sin is a wicked taskmaster, but Jesus makes us free.  Free?!  Yes! Indeed! In deed!  Not just in spoken words but in reality.  No longer enslaved.  I am free!  My chains are gone, and I burn with a burden, a passion, a purpose to see others know freedom.

I sincerely echo the sentiments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from August 28, 1963…  “I have a dream today…

…Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

Yes, It's True... I have a new psychiatrist...

A fun, goofy song as sung by Julie Miller and written by Buddy & Julie Miller.  It was on her 'Meet Julie Miller' project...

Starting with the glorious sound of an accordion with a lovely polka melody...

Always makes me laugh...  here it is...

My Psychiatrist

I want to tell you all about my new psychiatrist,
I had a lot of others, now I really got the best,
He's always got the answer, he doesn't have to guess,
He's had much more experience, and costs a whole lot less,

Oh yes, oh yes, my psychiatrist.

I used to be so nervous; I was way past tense,
I tried to tell my conscience to please stop making sense,
They said, when I felt guilty, my mother was the cause,
But now I know the reason is only that I was,
Oh yes, oh yes, he's my psychiatrist.

If you've got problems, small or large, his therapy is free of charge,
For mental health, just take a look,
He wrote it all down in a best selling book.

Oh yes, oh yes, my psychiatrist,
My psychiatrist,
My psychiatrist.

Have a great day!

If you have itunes... you can purchase this song... :-)

A Tribute to My Father

Welcome to my first blog...
I've been called a chip off the old block, or maybe 'Blockhead'?! so in honor of my father, my Bishop, Pastor, dad, and friend, and in light of Father's Day, I wanted my first blog to share a poem I placed in our church bulletin for June.

A Tribute to My Father

It's not always been easy
To walk the path you’ve trod
At times it seemed to make no sense,
This path you’ve walked with God

Some questioned your ability
To see the effort through
Still, step by step, you labored on
And in God’s grace, you grew

While once you ran your race with speed
Your steps, of late, have slowed
But daily on this upward climb
You ever onward go

I only wish that you could see
The impact you have made
Upon each life that you have touched
All along this way

And one day, Dad, I know you’ll hear
God’s mighty trumpet sound
And whether on or in the ground
Your spirit will respond

And there, before God’s mighty throne
I pray you finally see
The many souls you’ve fought to reach
Gain total victory

And hear your Savior’s voice proclaim
“Well done, my faithful son,
You’ve fought the fight and kept the faith
And now, at last, you're home

-----

I love you Dad!  You and Mom are ever in my heart and prayers.

Thanks for reading!
